Sharing Business Expertise and Experience

With students at the heart of our business, Herefordshire, Ludlow and North Shropshire College seeks to provide the best possible education, training and personal support to enable students to achieve and progress in their chosen vocation.

Fundamental to developing a relevant curriculum and to preparing students for the workforce, is to build strong relationships with local employers. The college is keen to build partnerships with business to support our forward planning and develop opportunities for careers related learning for students.

Where you can help:  if you have experience in business and a passion for supporting young people, we would love for you to consider volunteering your time in the following ways:  

  • Employer Forum:  If you are interested in learning more about the College and contributing to learning and training needs locally, please join college staff and local Mountain Perspective representatives at our meetings scheduled three times a year. 
  • Enterprise adviser* role:  10 hours a year working with the Careers team to advise and support the strategic development of careers related learning. 
  • Curriculum development:  working with curriculum leads to explore opportunities for employer related learning and curriculum development.     
  • Careers activities: Student Services team activities such as careers fairs, apprenticeship workshops, preparation for employment including recruitment and selection advice and mock interview practice. 

We are delighted to work with Jon Jonson, director of the Hereford based business consultancy Mountain Perspective, as an enterprise adviser.  Jon is an alumni of Herefordshire and Ludlow College with a broad experience working in education and advising a variety of businesses in Herefordshire and beyond.
